Besides selling books at a bunch of venues around the city, I also
am a vendor at the Winnipeg Flea market CO-OP . You may ask, what exactly is a flea market anyway? Well, we don’t sell insects, but the market is basically a mini mall. Vendors rent table or both space to sell their products from, so each booth or table is like a store in a shopping mall, just on a much smaller scale. You will usually be dealing directly with the owner/operator. Both new and second hand items are offered for sale and prices can be very attractive. There are often new vendors and different things turning up too, so you never know what you may find. You can also rent space and vend products or services too. A flea market is a very low cost way to get into business.

The Winnipeg Flea Market currently houses about 15 regular vendors in about 6600 square feet and there are often occasional vendors as well. The following can be found: antiques, collectibles (especially old glass and china), jewelry, house wares, fresh fruit and vegetables, sport and non sport trading cards, toys, comic books, action figures, books, tools, DVDs, VHS tapes, and video games (like Atari, Nintendo, Super Nintendo, Nintendo 64, Game Cube, Play Station 1, Play station 2, X-Box, Sega Genesis, Gameboy of all types, PSP). The market also has a canteen where freshly made food can be had.

The Winnipeg Flea Market Co-Op is located at 100 Mandalay Drive in the North End of the city. Mandalay runs off of Inkster between Keewatin in the West and McPhillips in the East, and the market is in a strip mall just one short block north of Inkster. A Tempo Gas bar is in the front of the parking lot and M & M Video is next door to the market. This strip mall also has the India Spice House, which sells East Indian foods and spices, as well as the Punjab Sweet Palace, which has a vegetarian buffet of dishes from Punjab as well as a large selection of sweets. Something for everyone and a touch of the exotic too.

The market is always looking for new vendors. If interested contact the market at 633-6658. Tables can be rented by the day, weekend or month.
